Hi everyone, thanks for the comments. I just updated the map to include many of these suggestions. A few responses:

Uwe: I added CSC, thanks!

James: I added ACCA21, thanks!

Jonas: I added CRED, thanks! SERC was already on the map, and SDRC is now NDRC.

Li Yuqi: I added the GJJNZX. I'm not sure what their official English name is, so I used the Chinese pinyin. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ding Ding: BEEST appears to be a division of MOHURD, so I'm leaving that out for now. (In theory the map features independent institutions.) I don't see any more detailed info about CEEB in the link you sent. Do they have their own website, or do you know the Chinese name? CUCD looks to be an enterprise (企业), so I left it off, but please clarify if I am misinterpreting. Finally, I added CAUPD, thanks!

Best,

I also have 4 institutions that play an crucial role in China's energy-environmental governance, and could be added to the chart:

BEEST-MOHURD, Building Energy Efficiency and Science and Technology Department, policy-makers for building energy efficiency.
http://www.cin.gov.cn/zcfg/jswj/jskj/

CEEB, important for building energy efficiency landscape.
http://www.cin.gov.cn/zcfg/jswj/jskj/

CUCD, who does research and engineering for waste and waste water management.
http://www.cucd.cn/newEbiz1/EbizPortalFG/portal/html/index.html

CAUPD, it's important to take energy/environmental considerations into their urban planning work.

Hi Vance, great work! One could add China Standard Certification Centre. Their role has somewhat been reduced, however they implement relevant projects in the energy sector.
www.cecp.org.cn

One could also think to map the responsibilities somehow, showing what an organisation is responsible and the overlap with others. As an initial idea one could structure this like this graph showing the various regional organisations in Asia (ASEAN, SARC, APEC, Shanghai Cooperation, ....) and their overlapping member. I'll try to source this as an example. However, one needs to come up with a list of key responsibilities/ elements of national energy and environmental policies to map the institutions respectively.
